Learn Phonics by Leap Frog DVDs

The goal of English education for my children is "enabling kids to read English picture books by themselves before entering Japanese elementary school". In this way, children will be able to increase their vocabulary through reading books, even if their time for studying English has diminished significantly after entering Japanese elementary school.

The Disney English System (DWE) did not have phonics, so I wanted to reinforce it with other materials.

Since phonics is likely to take time to understand, I decided to purchase Leapfrog's DVDs, which have a good reputation across English education weblogs. The content of each DVD is short, so I had to buy a few DVDs, but I think it would not be bad if children can enjoy phonics while watching animation.

Please note that LeapFrog's DVD cannot be played on a Japanese DVD player because the region is different from Japan. You need Region 1 or Region free DVD player to play these DVDs. I purchased a Region Free DVD player.

2. Leap Frog: Talking Words Factory
3. Leap Frog: Word Caper

A break from Piano lessons

A break from Piano lessons

My 3-year-old daughter started piano lessons this April. Recently I was wondering if she would continue the piano lesson. As a conclusion, I decided to give her a break from the piano lessons.

My daughter is so curious. She seems to want to move around with interest rather than sitting still.

She was not able to act according to the teacher's instructions in the piano lessons. She could not concentrate on the lessons.

I asked my daughter if she wanted to continue with her piano lessons, and her answer was "no."

She may not be interested in the piano yet.

As a mother, I wanted to start sound education such as a piano from a young age, but I respected the will of my daughter.
